Sense of Privilege

On the 15th of June 2010, during the meeting with the senior staff, we had discussed the possibilities of having monthly eucharistic celebration with the students before the lunch break.  Because of the time difference of the secondary and elementary school, a free lunch for those who attend the holy eucharist was proposed.  I believe it will be an attraction for the students to have them a sense of privilege.  However, some of the Roman Catholic staff was against the free lunch idea and they think it may be spoiling the students.  People kept silence after and finally scheduled the holy mass back to every first Friday after school.

Of course, sense of privilege should not be only built up by materialism but also by other experience, however if it is really spoiling those students attending the holy mass by free lunch, how about the free camps and birthday parties?  What's the difference?  Shouldn't we try to do things to build up the sense of privilege in this era when people are complaining the Catholic students and number of people who receive baptism are both getting worse than before?  Where are we going and what are we doing in religious education and for evangelization?

12 Apostles in Macao

In memory of the 21st anniverary of June 4 movement, a Holy Eucharist was held yesterday at Pio Teresa Formation Centre.  After the Holy Mass, one of the volunteers announced that a priest had bought the relics of 12 Apostles to the Centre there for a while.  It's really interesting that the twelve Apostles have come together in Macao even though they were apart around 2000 years ago.  What a great sense of history, across the time and space.  Amazing, the Church!
